The Thank You Economy by Gary Vaynerchuk

The Thank You Economy
I started reading this book last night, or rather did it the "underachiever" way and downloaded it from iTunes as an audiobook. I found this author Gary Vaynerchuk after reading and learning about an internet marketing mogul Russell Brunson. Russell was talking about a book entitled "Crush It" (which I also ordered from Amazon.com - should be arriving shortly), so I of course had to google it.

I stumbled upon the website "Crushitbook.com" where I was introduced to the positively-hyperexcited Gary Vaynerchuk and a few of his Video Blogs about Social Media, the dynamic, world changing internet era we're going through, and from there I found myself following @garyvee on Twitter.

My curiosity was then piqued when I found his latest book, "The Thank You Economy" and started sorting out the details and ideologies that Gary talks about. The jist of the book is about how we as a society, are in the beginning stages of coming full circle with customer service, stemming from a business model of the pre-1980s era where customer service was key for building a business, through the internet boom and dot-com era where customer service literally vanished, and now we're heading into a customer service driven model due to the backlash of consumers for so long as a result of the prior "Press Star, then 1, then 2..." customer service phone model.

Gary made an interesting point in one of his video blogs about how the internet is still very young, comparing it to the life cycle of a person, whereas now the internet is in it's teenage years, starting to have a 'social life.' That being the social media boom of Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, etc.

I have a long flight today, so I should be able to get through the rest of the audio book today!
Stay tuned...
